Erstwhile cattle creep, now a tunnel under the A1237 (York ring road), opened in late 2019. It is between Main Street (Knapton) and Northfield Lane and is the final part of the Rufforth to Knapton route. It gives: a) Rufforth residents an alternative off-road route to the edge of the urban area which avoids Wetherby Road, thereby encouraging more villagers to cycle or walk (neither was a realistic option for the majority of people using Wetherby Rd), b) York residents a safe, mostly traffic-free route out into the countryside and to the businesses on Northfield Lane.
